6. Great Developments in the Production of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Ratchet & Clank games have always featured a stunning visual experience, but the precision and richness of detail of the worlds that PS5 transforms are close to cinematic picture quality - all rendered in real time.
+ Amazing visual effects
Megalopolis and beyond
Detailed and brimming with rich fantasy worlds, a super-fast loading SSD helps provide complex rendering that was not previously possible in Ratchet & Clank games.
A new level of precision
The transition to 4K dynamic resolution and HDR* means huge amounts of fine detail, but a greater focus on mimicking the properties of real-world materials also means that metal shines, puddles reflect the world around them, and surfaces such as wood and stone have a texture that is almost tactile.
A true next generation rendering
The latest ray tracing technology allows light to bounce off surfaces as if they were in the real world, casting realistic shadows that fade as they spread and filling environments with colors more similar to natural lights.
+ Almost instant download
Travel faster
This is most evident in the use of so-called rifts - dimensional cuts in the fabric of reality that can be used to cross vast distances to reach privileged positions during a battle or to traverse distances that would not have been covered on foot.
Going back and forth in the blink of an eye
But Ratchet & Clank: Making Your Way isn't just about moving around a physical space. An SSD allows ultra-fast leaps across the dimensional space, propelling our heroes back and forth to watch the effects of their actions (and those of evil Doctor Nevarius) on the world.
Fine details in an extremely large range
Due to the permanent ability of the SSD to load a huge amount of data, these jumps create dangerous thrilling chases and allow exploration of miniature dimensions hiding valuable resources and frantic encounters in front of the enemy.
+ Immersive 3D Sound
Hearing: the new sense of sight
With the ability to locate enemies with the help of the sounds of their grunts, murmurs and the rumble of their guns, you won't be surprised by any threat that isn't clearly visible on screen. Knowing that an enemy is approaching from behind, the battle suddenly turns into a true panoramic struggle, causing Ratchet and Rivett to assign targets based on their proximity.
Lively atmosphere
Cities filled with bustling streets, street vendors inviting people to buy their wares, vehicles moving through the air - surrounding details are more important than ever. You never know when the battles will erupt, but you'll enjoy the sounds of these rich alien worlds both during lulls and during the height of battles.
+ A movement you can feel - really
The sound of explosions and grunts
Sophisticated haptic feedback allows you to feel every whirring, vibration, pressure and explosion, not only with big, powerful effects but also with faint grunts and faint vibrations.
This makes you feel when there is a fully loaded weapon or when a temporary explosion is about to fall nearby, giving you a chance to take cover in a safe place without needing a pointer on the screen.
Click, click...boom
The DualSense Wireless Controller's adaptive triggers also make shooting simple, a unique experience, changing the pressure resistance of the trigger depending on how hard it is pressed or allowing multiple types of attacks to be performed with a single button. Pressing lightly on the trigger can fire a single-barreled projectile while pressing it fully fires two - and with the perfect amount of resistance, you can always tell what kind of fire attack you're going to launch.
