4. Your guide to survival in the dangerous world of Days Gone
1. To you the mutants
The epidemic that struck the country turned some of its residents into monsters who live in their pure instinct. This new species has become the dominant predator in the Pacific Northwest with an already hostile environment. Survivors of the virus name them the mutants.
The family is divided into several subspecies, each with a unique challenge, making mutants the most dangerous enemy you will encounter in the wild. But what matters is that they are not immune. As with all living things, they have a vulnerability that can be exploited.
Screamers
This mutant breed is unique because, unlike any other species, it always wanders alone. But even so, care must be taken when facing them because of their ability: a live early warning system for mutants. They will launch a roar shaking the ground when they insinuate you which will bring any adult monstrosity close to your location.
Survival Guide: If you are close enough to spit out an object of them, you will not be able to avoid what will happen next: His cry that ruptures the eardrum will cripple your movement for important seconds and is sufficient for the right mutant to come. Make screamers your priority once you glimpse them, otherwise your problems will multiply faster than you can handle.
The mutants are adults
It is rare for you to meet this type of mutant alone. Unfortunately for you, they prefer to travel in a herd, from 5 to 20 people. They will check for any noise in their hearing and rush when they notice you, surround you quickly, and cut off any ways to escape.
Survival Guide: If flying is your preferred choice, find twigs and unfurl in bushes and stay hidden until the group passes. Would you prefer anonymity? Separate the fugitives from the herd by throwing stones and sneaking behind them to kill them while you are undercover. The adult mutants attracted by the sound will be determined next to the arch of your throw.
Shattered
Mutants copy of the boxers layer. Survivors suspect that these muscular aggressors are the result of athletes and wrestlers being caved in. Whatever their origin, they are the giants of the platoon. And fear disappears with brute force: the broken people will seek to approach you and continue to beat you to death.
Survival Guide: Molotov cocktails act as a multiplier of damage, so they set fire from a distance and shoot it to drain its health. If you get smashed close to you, be careful to avoid rolling over to avoid strikes, but remember: avoiding drains your endurance and reduces your ability to reduce the distance between you and him.
As with every creature in the game, smashers will attack other types of enemies so bring these immune monsters to confront other creatures, which weakens these unexpected reinforcements before the mercy bullet is fired.
Runners
Mutants strain continues to mutate as the game progresses. Runners are an evolution as well, they are easily noticeable because of their more pale skin, and they are as fast as adult mutants but can withstand more damage and even head strokes before they fall. But just as with their weaker siblings, you might have bad luck and meet a group of these powerful mutants.
Survival Guide: Familiarize yourself with the game evolution system and the Decon tree. Upgrading a survival perspective means that you can slow down time longer which gives you the opportunity to strike more headstrokes; unlocking better weapons gives you more deterrence and more ammo combs to drain their health. You can even turn your motorcycle into a high-speed weapon with a durability supply allowing you to shock and kill runners. But be aware: You have to fix your bike after that.
Crowds
These huge monster enemies - numbering between 50 and 500 powerful ones - are probably the biggest challenge you will face in the wild. They are a clear danger even for the principles of mutants; they move together like the mind of a beehive and act as a single mass. There are 40 crowds scattered throughout the Days Gone world and each has their own region and pattern of migration and move from food lands to water sources.
Survival Guide: You have to be well armed and ready to consider just facing a crowd: because you will be quickly defeated by the enormous numbers. Careful monitoring and the use of an environment that the crowd will visit frequently are key to creating a strategy to permanently eliminate this menace. Prepare traps, plan routes and master shooting.
2. Beware of wildlife
The food chain has changed in Days Gone, humans are no longer the world's strongest predators, and carnivores in nature regain their dominance. The open game world villages and hills roam predatory creatures with sharp fangs ready to defend their region or hover in the wilds hunting for fresh meat.
Dreaded Oregon residents were not immune to the scourge of the epidemic: there are epidemic versions of wolves and bears roaming the world. The elevated aggressiveness and sinister look of these mutations are suitable for chilling face.
Wolves / monster wolf
These dangerous, fast hunters roam the vast country in flocks. If you are lucky, you will hear an alarm echoing on the horizon, warning you that fast dogs are coming in search of prey and being careful not to attack you. Even if you are careful, the attack will be swift: the herd will suddenly surround you, ready to pounce. Their infected counterparts are mutant wolves, their largest and inconsistent fur.
Survival guide: Wolves can keep up with the speed of your motorbike, so look for an unobstructed open road and start shooting while you drive, discourage them from getting close and hoping to get tired before your fuel runs out. But if you are running out of fuel, find a place where you can hide behind a wall to avoid being surrounded, then equip a rifle or other weapon with widespread damage.
Bears / mutants bears
Bend Studio looked at the true mid-Oregon native to design the wildlife that they'd encounter in the wilds. Their pursuit of originality means that while you spend your time on the road, you will encounter black brawn muscles that will delight you. This infected species can be identified as "mutant bears" by the barbed wire meshed in their fur.
Survival Guide: Close-up confrontation is not an option, unless you want to be cut into pieces. As with every encounter, take advantage of the surrounding environment to your advantage. Go to the roofs and shoot safe from high altitude, if you have ammunition. If you are near a gas station, lure the bear to follow you behind the fuel containers, and light it as it crosses to cause explosive damage to its health.
3. Beware of humans
Beware of strangers. The nice survivor camps where communities work together and see assistance abroad as an opportunity to build a safe homeland are just a few in Days Gone.
Most of the men and women you will meet on the road - or off it - are all ready to plunder you or to set traps to get you off your motorbike or simply shoot you. The reason is, you often carry the supplies they need; it is better that they live instead of you. Survival of the fittest in the wild.
The ambushers
Although most are not friendly, non-torn survivors are called looters, there is another group that makes roads dangerous during the day. Survivors call them ambushes. As the name implies, they will attack when you do not expect to attack: a well-hidden clothesline that will land you on your motorbike or a sniper den that will target you while you are driving. They cover roads near their home: a heavily fortified camp.
Survival Guide: Eliminating a high-risk ambush camp but generating a high reward. Controlling these places during epic battles will reduce the number of ambushes in the surrounding area and open up camp shelter, a hidden spot that represents a treasure chest of unique rewards. Each camp design is outstanding as well as its challenges, offering unique, enigmatic riddles that will require you to be cunning and skillful to overcome.
Torn apart
Members of a deranged sect revere the mutants. They have some of the most dangerous engaging weapons in the game, which makes you doubt whether their confrontation for the spoils is worth it. But be careful: although they are not highly armored, they are devoted to cleansing the world of people. Some of the more high-level rips may ignite Molotov on their chest and rush towards you as they hope to destroy you and themselves with fire.
Survival Guide: Sermon Molotov from a distance and trying to snipe you while you are running or with weapons of engagement. Learn about the game's ecosystem and group doctrines to get help from unexpected places. If you could spot a group close to the adult mutants, drive them towards the area and hide. Torn refuses to harm the mutants. Instead, they will form a gathering, start cheering, and make the swarm move away.
4. Take care of your equipment
Your life's arteries in Days Gone are your bike and your skills. The motorbike will help you travel distances easily while crossing various terrain and also helps to quickly escape from any danger. The experience you get from completing businesses around the world can be used to upgrade your many skills or to empower yourself for what awaits you on the road.
Your skills
Days Gone offers a world where your strategy must always be flexible. The weapons of engagement will be destroyed, ammunition will be deprived and stealth will not be beneficial against a raging crowd. Here lies the importance of going deep into the game's dense skill tree and developing you by yourself to become a more ingenious and powerful survivor.
Survival Guide: Become the owner of the Seven Craftsmanship. Focus on unlocking the basic levels of the three upgrade branches. These will give you important skills for prairie and allow you to fix engagement weapons, re-feed on the move and increase combat focus. Not good at shooting? Keep upgrading the engagement tree to speed up repairs and increase your weapon's durability. Do you prefer firearms? You can reduce the rifle sway or be able to see enemies thanks to the survival perspective.
Your bike
You have a limited amount of fuel in your bike tank. You cannot carry spare packages, so you are used to monitoring that meter. The fear does not lie in running out of fuel but in walking. A transport that cannot be used is a mostly death sentence: your bike is the only way to bypass mutants and the rest of the perils.
Survival Guide: Find gas stations (to be added to your map when you discover them) or thrown cans during your travels. Calm down when hills descend: Gravity will take care of it. Upgrade your tank when you can pay for it in any camp.
