While it has expanded to include additional playable characters, the crime series has charted the major events of Kiryu Kazuma's life from the 1980s to the present day. The series on PS2 started with the Yakuza release in 2006 and concluded its story on PS4 in 2018 with the release of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.
The full Yakuza series represents one of the richest types of characters in games, the most important being that each adventure is unique, all of which can be enjoyed as stand-alone adventures.
